4th June – 31st August
A FACT and Crafts Council partnership exhibition in association with Norfolk Museums Service. Build Your Own explores how digital technologies come together with traditional processes of production to create new ways of working, sharing and collaborating. New times call for new skills – but the old ones have an important role too. This exhibition explores what the democratisation of tools really means, whom the emergence of new technologies will affect, and how they connect to traditional craft skills.
Linda Brothwell continues her series of public interventions with Acts of Care: The Lost Letters of Liverpool, using her research within Liverpool’s large Polish community to create work influenced by traditional Polish paper-cutting techniques and patterns.
Build Your Own features four newly commissioned projects by Will Shannon and Assemble, Linda Brothwell, Rachel Rayns and Raspberry Pi and DoES Liverpooland e-NABLE, alongside a series of creative interventions across Liverpool and Norwich, and an inclusive public programme. Build Your Own is a partnership exhibition with FACT in association with Norfolk Museums Service and co-curated by curator and cultural programme director Lauren Parker and Clare Cumberlidge of creative communications company Thirteen Ways.
