Spa Day for Hammers - A repair workshop for tools in October 2021 with the Institute of Making in London.

Guests were invited to bring in their most loved hammer for a bit of TLC, with artist & founder of The Tool Appreciation Society, Linda Brothwell. To start the session Linda shared her artists tools, bringing in some of her handmade hammers from Acts of Care: The Lost Letters of Liverpool.

We then got chatting about how and where we use them & what makes it special. Then aprons on for the important task of caring for it; a little face polish, a repair to or replacement of the handle, a new grip or even making a better fit for your hand.

Working with Linda and the technicians of Institute of Making, all participants left with thier hammer newly refreshed, repaired and cared for as well as some tips about how to care for thier workshop tools.

All skill levels were welcome, with chats about why loving and caring for your handtools makes for a happy life!
